RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - 11
AN AMENDMENT OF A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MONTE VISTA, COLORADO ESTABLISHING WATERING
RESTRICTIONS ON SPRINKLER SYSTEMS AND LAWN IRRIGATION
WHEREAS, the City of Monte Vista Municipal Code Section 10-3-140
Sprinkling Restrictions allows City Council to establish restrictions for the
use of water for irrigation or sprinkling purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Resolution No. 07-2021 should be
renewed to continue in 2026; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish water restrictions and also
desires said restrictions to be as simple as possible to enact for residents; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Monte Vista;
1. Deems it necessary to place restrictions on water for the use of irrigation or
sprinkling, and the restrictions will be that;
a. Odd-numbered addresses can be watered on Tuesday, Thursday, and
Saturday of each week; and
b. Even numbered addresses can water on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday;
and
c. No watering on Monday of each week. And,
d. No watering between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.
2. Hand watering will be allowed for vegetable gardens and to establish grass for no longer
than 20 minutes except during the no watering days and times.
3. The duration of the restrictions shall be enforced from April 2, 2026 and will
be re-evaluated as and if current drought conditions change to determine if
restrictions shall continue or shall be strengthened; and
4. Authorizes Gigi Dennis, Monte Vista City Manager, to enforce said restriction
as per the Code.
